Planning your child's birthday party in Luxembourg: the parents' guide

Planning your child's birthday party should not start with a random search for a venue. A few simple questions will save you a lot of time: how old is your child? How many children would you like to invite? What budget do you have in mind? Which activity would they really enjoy?

This guide walks you through each step to choose the most suitable activity, venue and package, then prepare for the big day with peace of mind.

How LetzCelebrate.co helps

On LetzCelebrate.co, venues that are bookable online are our partners: their packages, prices and availability are shown on their page, and you book directly on the site. The search filters answer most of the questions in this guide (age, number of children, date, budget, cake, supervision…).

Listed venues are shown for information only: for these, please ask the venue directly.

Start with your child: what kind of party would they love?

Before looking at prices or venues, think about what your child really enjoys. Are they more:

The best birthday is not the one with the most entertainment: it is the one that suits your child.

Which activity for which age?

Age is a good first filter, but not the only one.

Our tip: always check the age stated by the venue. An activity that is perfect for ten-year-olds may be much less suitable for a group of five-year-olds.

On LetzCelebrate.co: In the search, enter your child's age (“Who's it for?”): only venues whose packages suit that age are shown. The “Activity” filter then groups venues by main type (leisure activities, creative workshop, sports activity, cultural activity, nature and animals). You can also browse venues by activity and by town.

How many children should you invite?

There is no ideal number. The right number depends on your child's age and personality, the chosen activity and the supervision provided. A creative workshop often works better with a small group, whereas a sports activity can welcome more children.

So set your maximum number of guests before looking for a venue, and check:

What if your child wants to invite the whole class? It is possible, but not every activity lends itself to it. For a large group, choose a space that is big enough and suitable supervision.

Tip: decide on the number of children first, then look for activities that can welcome them. You will avoid falling for a package that is too small for your group.

On LetzCelebrate.co: Enter the number of participants in the search: only venues that can welcome your group are shown. On each partner page, the price adjusts automatically to the number of children, and the “Activity leader / Supervision”, “Full venue hire” and “Dedicated event space” filters help you choose.

What budget should you plan?

The price of a birthday party varies widely depending on the activity and the services included. To compare two packages, do not look only at the displayed price:

Package price + any extras = real cost of the party.

Check what the price includes:

Two packages at the same price can therefore end up costing very different amounts.

Also plan for extra expenses: decorations, the cake if it is not included, candles, transport or parking, small leaving gifts. Keep a little margin rather than budgeting to the last euro.

On LetzCelebrate.co: Partner venues show their prices, and the “Your budget” filter keeps only the packages that suit you. The “Birthday cake included”, “Drinks included”, “Snacks included”, “Meals included”, “Invitation cards” and “Gift bags” filters show at a glance what is included.

How do you choose the right venue?

The ideal venue is not necessarily the one closest to home. Before booking, check:

Access. How long does it take to get there? Is there parking? If several parents drop off and pick up the children, an easy-to-reach address makes a real difference.

Clothing. Some activities require specific clothing: sportswear, non-slip socks, swimwear, closed shoes… Check before sending the invitations.

Parents. Can they stay? Is there a space for them? Does the venue supervise the children? These points matter especially for younger children.

Language. In Luxembourg, guests do not always speak the same language: check which language the activity is run in.

Accessibility. If a guest uses a wheelchair or parents are coming with a pushchair, check access.

On LetzCelebrate.co: Searching by area and the map show you the venues near you. The “Free on-site parking”, “Nearby parking”, “Pushchair & wheelchair accessible” and “Languages” filters answer these questions directly.

When should you book?

As soon as you have chosen the date, especially for a Saturday or a Sunday. It matters even more:

If your date is flexible, you will usually have more choice.

Tip: before finalising the date, check that the friends your child really wants to invite are available.

On LetzCelebrate.co: Choose one or more dates in the search: only partner venues available on those days are shown. On their page, the slots still free are visible straight away, and booking is done online.

What if the weather does not play along?

For an outdoor activity, ask the question before booking, not on the morning itself:

In spring and autumn, having a back-up plan is particularly useful.

On LetzCelebrate.co: The cancellation policy is shown to you before you confirm, and a booking can be changed or cancelled online, in line with that policy.

How much time should you allow?

The length of the activity is not the length of the party. Also allow time for welcoming the guests, snacks, the cake, presents and going home.

For younger children, a party that is too long can quickly become tiring. For older ones, a shorter activity leaves time to chat, eat the cake and enjoy being together.

On LetzCelebrate.co: The “Duration” filter lets you choose the length of the package, and each partner venue's page states how long its packages last.

A typical party, step by step

There is no need to time the party to the second: a simple sequence works very well.

  1. Welcome: the children arrive, put down their things and settle in.
  2. The activity: the heart of the party. If it is supervised, let the activity leader set the pace.
  3. Snacks and cake: time for candles, singing and photos.
  4. Presents: opened on the spot or later at home. With a large group, there is no need to open them during the party.
  5. Going home: allow a few minutes to gather belongings, hand out a small gift and let parents collect their child without rushing.

Cake, snacks and allergies

Some packages include the cake, snacks and drinks; others let you bring your own cake. If you bring it, check:

Allergies. Add a question about allergies and dietary needs to your invitation, then pass the answers on to the venue if it provides the snacks or the cake. In case of a serious allergy, always ask the venue what it can actually guarantee.

On LetzCelebrate.co: The “Birthday cake included” and “Bring your own birthday cake” filters sort venues according to your choice. When booking, after entering your child's age and first name, a message field for the venue lets you tell it about any allergies.

Invitations: what should you include?

Send the invitations once the booking is confirmed. A good invitation lets parents understand everything at a glance:

Also ask in the invitation: “Any allergy or important information to let us know about?” You will not have to chase information the day before the party.

On LetzCelebrate.co: Some partner packages include invitation cards: use the “Invitation cards” filter.

Your checklist before booking

Before clicking “Book”, check that:

All checked? You can book with peace of mind.

Find the activity for the party

You now know what to check: all that is left is to find the activity that suits your child.

On LetzCelebrate.co, search by age, number of children, date, area and budget, then refine with the filters: activity, duration, cake, supervision, accessibility, languages… Compare the packages of our partner venues and book online. Also browse venues by activity and by town to discover ideas you might not have thought of.

The most important thing? Do not look for “the best birthday party”. Look for the one that suits your child.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a child's birthday party cost in Luxembourg?

The price mainly depends on the activity, the number of children, the duration and the services included. Always compare what the package contains, not just its price. On LetzCelebrate.co, partner venues show their prices, and the “Your budget” filter helps you compare.

From what age can you plan a birthday party around an activity?

There is no single age. Some activities are designed for toddlers, and the choice widens considerably as children grow. Pre-teens particularly enjoy experiences and challenges with friends. Enter your child's age in the search to see only suitable packages.

How many children should you invite?

There is no rule: adapt the number to your child, the activity and the venue's capacity. For a first party with friends, a small group is often easier to manage.

How long does a child's birthday party last?

It depends on the activity. Remember to allow for the welcome, snacks, cake and going home on top of the activity. The “Duration” filter helps you choose.

Can you bring your own cake?

It depends on the venue. Some packages include the cake, others accept the one you bring. The “Birthday cake included” and “Bring your own birthday cake” filters let you sort venues.

Do parents have to stay?

It depends on the children's age and the venue. Some activities are fully supervised, others require an adult to be present. The “Activity leader / Supervision” filter helps you find a supervised package.

How do you organise a birthday party on a Sunday?

On Sundays, some of your child's friends may be away: check that the main guests are available before confirming the date. On LetzCelebrate.co, choose your dates in the search to see the partner venues still available.

What if it rains?

For an outdoor activity, check before booking the terms for postponing or cancelling, and whether there is an indoor alternative.

How do you find an original birthday activity in Luxembourg?

Start from your child's interests rather than the type of venue. Searching by activity helps you discover very different ideas: creative workshops, sport, nature and animals, games, unusual experiences.

What is the difference between a venue bookable online and a listed venue?

A venue bookable online is a LetzCelebrate.co partner: you can see its packages, prices and availability, and book directly on the site. A listed venue is shown for information only: online booking is not yet open, and its prices or availability have not been shared with us. Please contact it directly.
